One has to forgive one's ex. I disagree. My husband lied to me with every word he spoke. He lies still. He used me for financial support until he found someone younger with lots of money, a rich family and a house. I became very ill during our marriage and the man I was married to simiply ignored the matter. He was verbally abusive, extremely discouraging and very very cruel. He doesn't believe he needs forgiveness because he believes he did nothing wrong: every man for himself. Why forgive this person. It would be another, very deep rejection. Should one forgive a rapist? The murderer of one's child? The cruel user? This is like asking one to forgive someone for the theft of a life. How does this help? Forgiveness depends on the perception of the value of the person to be forgiven. In my case, he has no value. His life is a lie.
